I have been blogging for over a dozen years now.
I KNOW.
In that time, I have gone from it being a class project for my degree program, to a hobby that paid for itself, to a whole ass career.
The Best Accounting Program For Bloggers
And that means that my accounting has had to evolve, too.
I used to be able to just keep a handful of highlighted receipts in a folder and pass them along to my mom accountant.
However, a couple of years ago, she straight up told me that she could no longer manage my taxes unless I figured out something that worked more effectively.
After chatting with fellow bloggers, I discovered a better way – Quickbooks.
Why I Love Quickbooks!
With multiple plans and options, Quickbooks offered me the chance to get EXACTLY what I wanted and needed for a super reasonable price.
I currently pay around $10 a month and have access to an incredible accounting tool that works for me.
I love that my accountant (my mom) can access my Quickbooks account while I’m in Texas and she’s in Alaska.
I love that I also have access to the Quickbooks app – it’s got a built in mileage tracker!
Just push start and stop and your miles are automatically calculated and uploaded into your account.
What Plans Are There?
Currently, there are four plans available online: Self-Employed, Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus.
SELF-EMPLOYED
I’m using the Self-Employed plan. It’s perfect for me since I’m a one woman operation and don’t really need much more than the ability to input profits and costs.
I love that I can link my bank account and business credit card so that my purchases automatically sync to my Quickbooks account.
It helps me not stress out so much about remembering to input every single little receipt.
This program also tracks my quarterly taxes – so YAY for no surprises at the end of the year!
SIMPLE START
I actually started with this one but realized that it was more than I needed.
However, it is perfect for anyone who sells a specific service or product and needs to send out/track invoices.
This program also links bank/cards, tracks taxes, runs reports, and allows you to send estimates for work.
ESSENTIALS
I like this plan for those of you with multiple verticals or employees.
It does everything the Simple Start plan does but also allows multiple users access to the account.
So, if you’re in a partnership, both of you can cut checks, pay bills, or send invoices.
And you’ll both be able to see everything the other person does. It’s a nice checks and balances system.
This program also does time tracking.
PLUS
The Plus plan is the big one. It’s got everything that the Essentials plan has but takes it even further!
It’s cool because you’ll also be able to track your inventory and manage 1099 contractors.
I love this plan for those with shops that sell a physical product or those of you doing Virtual Assistant services with employees or contractors.
Intrigued? Well, I’m about to make things EVEN better!

She is SO HAPPY with this program and that I’m finally getting my shit blogging business together.
I figure, if she’s happy and thinks Quickbooks is amazing – who am I to argue?
